five minute friday :: open
by Jana Kennedy-Spicer on February 20th, 2015

open :: windows

I love the first warm days of spring, when the sun begins to shine and the temperature begins to warm and it seems the world begins to reawaken.

On those days, I open the windows and let the fresh new air of spring sweep through the house, blowing out the staleness that seemed to set in over the closed up winter.

Refreshing. Inspiring. Invigorating. Motivating.

open :: minds

Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures.
Luke 24:45
Just as a closed up house can become musty, a closed mind can create staleness of thought, stuffiness of attitude and stifled growth.

And like the fresh air through an open window, so are the scriptures when I open my mind to new understand of God’s word.

Refreshing. Inspiring. Invigorating. Motivating.

 open :: eyes

Open my eyes so I can truly see the marvelous things in your law!
Psalm 199:18  NET
Being closed up in the house, in the same old places, and closed up in my daily routines, with the same old thoughts can create a staleness of vision and appreciation.

But like the fresh air through an open window, so are the daily miracles of life when I open my eyes to a new view, to truly see God’s handiwork all around.

Refreshing. Inspiring. Invigorating. Motivating.
Life feeling a little stale?  Open some windows today and let God’s love and grace blow through your life so you too can feel…

Refeshed. Inspired. Invigorated. Motivated.

Beautiful post :) I am getting so excited to open my windows for spring. It was only 1* at 7am this morning in my neck of the woods, and I am so longing for some warmth for the kiddos to play in!

This is beautiful Jana. Too cold to open any windows but I did get out today after being housebound because of snow, it felt good. Love the analogy to God's word. Thank you.

Love your new blog, Jana. Congratulations! And this post. Refreshing and makes me ready for spring. There's nothing so wonderful as God revealing a new understanding of His Word. May He bless your ministry here.
