five minute friday :: relief

On Eagle's Wings

Today is five minute friday...  that's when a bunch of blogger friends gather together at Kate Motaung's place to write about an everyday average word for only five minutes. So follow the link and join the conversation.  Today's prompt is :: relief

Go.

Some days I feel like Paul.

On my knees crying or pacing around the room shouting, “Please please please, Lord, make this stop! Do you not see this, do you not see me?  Why are you permitting this?”

I cry, I yell, I whimper… I beg for some relief.

“I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me.
Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me,

"My grace is sufficient for you,
for my power is made perfect in weakness."

Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses,
so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, i
n insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties.
For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

2 Corinthians 12:7-10

Just as with Paul, every time I cry out, God answers, and also just like with Paul, his answer is always no, but then he says:
  • Remember this scripture … strength
  • Listen to this sermon … understanding
  • Read this message … blessing

Relief.

Thank you Lord, for you are always faithful to meet every need.

Stop.

Why do you complain, Jacob?
Why do you say, Israel,
“My way is hidden from the Lord;
my cause is disregarded by my God”?
Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.
He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;

but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

Isaiah 40:27-31
