This Is My Story
by Jana Kennedy-Spicer on January 3rd, 2016

"This Is My Story" has always been one of my favorite hymns, and it's a message that has been on my heart a lot over the past few years and a theme that keeps seeping out from just about everywhere.

So one day I'm driving home and I hear this song come on the radio.  It's new and it's grabbing my attention.

If I told you my story.... You would hear hope that wouldn't let go

A new "my story" song!

If I told you my story.... You would hear victory over the enemy

And then a verse that reinforced what I felt God had been telling me about my own story... it wasn't really "my" story at all - it was HIS story.

If I should speak, then let it be...

Of the grace that is greater than all my sin
Of when justice was served and where mercy wins
Of the kindness of Jesus that draws me in
Oh to tell you my story is to tell of Him

"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Acts 1:8

So how would those lines read if you were telling your story? Telling others about your God story?

Think you don't have a story? Oh friend, yes you do. We all do.

And just as Paul tells us in Acts 1:8, when the Holy Spirit comes over us, we are equipped with our God story, we are equipped to become Christ's witnesses.

I hope you'll come back tomorrow as I share more of my story. It will be the first in a series this year of God's daughter's sharing their stories with others.

But for now, enjoy this video of Big Daddy Weave performing their song, My Story.
If I told you my story
You would hear hope that wouldn't let go
If I told you my story
You would hear love that never gave up
If I told you my story
You would hear life, but it wasn't mine

If I should speak, then let it be...

Of the grace that is greater than all my sin
Of when justice was served and when mercy wins
Of the kindness of Jesus that draws me in
Oh to tell you my story is to tell of Him

If I told you my story
You would hear victory over the enemy
If I told you my story
You would hear freedom that was won for me
If I told you my story
You would hear life overcome the grave

If I should speak, then let it be...

Of the grace that is greater than all my sin
Of when justice was served and where mercy wins
Of the kindness of Jesus that draws me in
Oh to tell you my story is to tell of Him

This is my story, this is my song
Praising my Savior all the day long
