How Deep the Father's Love

Music is my language. Words and tunes stick in my mind and heart. This is the very reason I have come to love songs and hymns that bring scripture to mind. How the deep the Father’s love for us came to my mind one morning and I began to sing. Scripture thoughts flooded my heart and the beauty of God’s love for us unfolded with the lyrics.

From the first stanza to the last I am reminded of Christ and His sacrifice upon the cross. There is no deeper love!

How deep the Father's love for us
How vast beyond all measure

“For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 8:38

That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
John 3:16

Why should I gain from His reward?
I cannot give an answer
But this I know with all my heart
His wounds have paid my ransom

“But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.”
Isaiah 53:5-6

Music is the sweetest language I understand. Hymns and songs that take me to the scriptures are my favorite. The next time you have a song come to your heart ask yourself if there is a scripture or two hiding within the lyrics.
